everquest warrior aa guide - Noble Offshore Fear Itself (88-93)(PoK>Feerott, the Dream>House of Thule, Lower>House of Thule, Upper>Fear Itself) - Even before this place was a hot zone, I loved this place. There is a sparkly pad to his left, which if you step on and wait will let you teleport to PoHate) - I dislike this place solo. You can very very quickly get yourself a full set of 87-92 gear, including the Formal armor set. (25% was in Overthere when it was a hot zone.) Passive: Your merc will not attack or heal anything. There is also a pair of undead graveyards here that can offer some decent exp in this range for Paladins, but the mob density is all that and you're better off in another zone. In addition, they are packed together. A: Nope, if he dies the "Suspend" Button on his window will turn to "Revive" and you'll be able to rez your Mercenary. High enough that 2 rangers headshotting with an SK tanking and wizard also spamming nukes with shaman support couldn't exhaust all the mobs before they repopped. Also during spell cooldowns they will use agro reducing abilities. The undead lake is good for paladins and there are a couple of drolvargs mixed in. A player could easily gain the same amount of XP they got from 2 or 3 hours of AFK'ing pet/merc XP exploting if they spent 10 good minutes at the keyboard. This zone is very confusing to get into from the "front door", but if you're coming here at 48 then it's the best place to go. The north and east pathways are the ones to focus on. It was something I have wanted to do for a while but never had the time to do. What that means is he just won't do anything. Ah yes. Also something to keep in mind is if you complete the themes out of order you will not unlock the mercenaries from the theme's below it. The run to it is also very short. Q: What happens if I don't have the money to pay for my merc? Healers have a chance of actually rezzing you! Q: How does shrouding effect my mercenary? You can get yourself a mercenary for free to help in your leveling. Air sucks for dps and tanking in classic, can be useful in groups against casters, in Lower Guk for example. There are two main camps that youll use. The final two zones drop Glowing Reis, which gives you good armor from 85-90. Additionally, the mobs in Wall of Slaughter have a larger agro radius than the Plane of Fire mobs which helps. 28-35 Kaesora(PoK>Field of Bones>Kaesora) - I think this is a pretty great zone to get a few levels in. For a quick example, an Apprentice Tier V mercenary caps out at a 90% rez where as a Journeyman Tier I mercenary will have a 96% rez. The easiest armor sets to get will probably be the sets from Hardcore Heritage. Talk to Marla Gaslow. I will add something in about him. It's a hot zone occasionally and of the Alaris zones that cycle as hot zones, I think it's the best. Available types are Tanks, Healers, Melee DPS, Caster DPS, and Support mercenaries. You will begin seeing worgs, go south down the coastline and look for some elves and humans. That area is considered Tier 1 for the expansion. At that point start pushing through the shopkeepers to the south or go up the ramp to kill the masters and grandmasters. For example say you shrouded to level 10 Your mercenary will be free again. All the gear that levels up with you from 75 to 105 makes life hugely easier. They are very social though and you may need some crowd control. If you have access to it, the TBM Crypt-Hunter gear is comparable to every expansions group gear until 105 and you can upgrade it with augments so that it levels with you in 5 level blocks. There are three nameds you can kill here for a good variety of loot. Gaesigs and Heligs on the water side come to mind on this. Grieg himself is often camped but if he is up be careful. Stay near the entrance until 49-50 then move toward the "disco" areas until about 52. You can push to 86-87 here by going into the west corridors, but the exp falls off a cliff at 83. Inside the hut talk to Mercenary Mdjal to hire a mercenary. These levels will come steadily and you will very likely never be overwhelmed. To upgrade your mercenary you have to complete SoD progression lines. Erillion, City of Bronze (95-100)(Guild Hall, Buy a Stone of the Shard's Fall>TP to Shard's Landing>Erillion) - This place is pretty easy and is the easiest option here by far. The ramps leading down into each area of The Grounds are great camp spots and there are halls and nooks of the various buildings in Erudin Burning that you can set up in without much fuss. Help Home This is a picture of the merc window. The old school Journeyman Rank 5 mercenary questline takes place here if you want to do it. The key to AFK grinding is to not die rather than maximize exp per hour. From the time your mercenary dies to the time you can Rez him is 5 minutes, just like when you'd suspend him. BEST: 38-48 City of Mist(PoK>Field of Bones>Emerald Jungle>City) - This is will very likely be some of the fastest leveling you will do. They have low HP and don't hit very hard. Once you're around 96, head toward the big building in the center or the Sepulcar of Order zoneline to kill higher level guys. Only downside is that it's a hell of a run out to it. This expansion introduced Mercenaries and basically completely changed the way you level in Everquest. Plenty of zone to go around. The number of mobs for straight grinding is also really impressive. Lower HP, but hit hard. Depending on how fast you're going this place is wonderful to 38, but tapers off to just decent after that IMO. You will decimate all. You can manage your merc's appearance clothing via your persona window. Fun times. You'll usually be fine pulling 1 or 2 Whites or above, any more and the merc has a small chance of running. You may finish them and have 30-45 minutes to wait. Any necro will out dps a merc by a factor of 2 at least and up to a factor of 6 or 7. Healing mercs heal and tanking mercs tank pretty simplistic. He drops a key to access the first black reaver room and open up access to the second floor. It's essentially a big hole in the ground, but the mobs have low HP and die fast. To top it all off, it's also a hot zone!! Own the Kunark Ascending expansion, which also allows the mercenaries to be trained and equipped with stat gear. They are however allowed into LDoN's. I didn't realize how good this zone was until I was recently leveling and grouped with a guy who dragged me out here. Dulak's Harbor (35-43)(PoK>Gulf of Gunthak>Dulak's) - You can go higher than this by killing cultists and stuff in the tunnels of the zone, but I think the best thing about this place is the mob density for lower levels. Everything is very social. They are all undead. The Fortress Mechanotus Zones(75-85)(Guild Hall>Buy Dragonscale Faycite>TP to Dragonscale Hills>Fortress Mechanotus>Gyrospires/Meldraths/SHIP/Steam Factory) - This area isn't one of my favorites and I haven't spent a considerable amount of time hunting in them. Also stay away from the center bottom left of the zone. Welcome to EverQuest! The key is the respawn time for the zone. Below the bridge is a giant ice lake covered in spiders and slimes. Just be careful as everything has a huge aggro range and the pathing can mess your world up. Start off killing drakes, snakes, and spiders. At 70 though, it starts to seriously lose it's luster. BEST (90-96): Valley of Lunanyn (Guild Hall>Buy Chunk of Argathian Steel>TP to Argath, Bastion of Illdaera>Valley of Lunanyn) - I sincerely hate that this is still true, but the Valley is still hard to beat in this range mostly because of the unique way the zone is setup. Wall of Slaughter (64-68)(Guild Hall>Buy Chipped Shard of Slaughter>TP to Wall of Slaughter) - Even with this not being a Hot Zone anymore, in this level range with a group this place is pretty great experience. There a couple of hallway corners that are mostly safe as well, but you have to kill to them and that can be dangerous. Doesn't apply to certain AAs, like tradeskills, etc, but its plenty sufficient for leveling. After about 12 though, you can speed things up immensely if you're fighting with your tank merc and he can hold aggro way better after 10. Then it starts to slow down. This makes it so any new player can jump in and catch his friends or others as quickly and painlessly possible. Their levels and abilities will scale appropriately and they will think and act for themselves with limited player guidance. K. kyle123 New member. The mobs hit very hard and you can get overwhelmed very quickly. Watch out for the clerics if you don't have a solid interrupt. If not, stay outside. It just depends on gear if solo and number of boxes/size of group if not. A: No. There is a quest with the platinum efreeti armor which eventually nets you a Illusion:Specter item that is sick. Making it doubly worth it. Very simple. ALTERNATIVES: Arcstone(67-75)(Guild Hall, talk to portal crystal vendor and buy Arcstone Spirit Sapphire) - I really recommend this place to people with Undead control or slaying abilities. Mercenaries (EQ2) :: Wiki :: EverQuest II :: ZAM They are a must going forward. Murder the "of Fire" mobs from 65 to 68. How does it help with boxing?
